In the fall of 2007, University of Nevada, Reno art faculty member, Joseph DeLappe, founded iraqimemorial.org, which is an online exhibition and ongoing call to artists, designers, architects or other interested creative individuals or collaborators to propose concepts for the creation of memorials to the many thousands of Iraqi civilians killed in the War in Iraq. The jurors are from all over the world. The Sheppard Gallery, working with Professor DeLappe, will organize an exhibition and related events presenting selected proposals from the 2008 and 2009 jurors’ reviews. The exhibition will consist of a series of large format ink jet prints taken directly from the winning proposals, as well as models and artifacts.
